Does anyone have any suggestions for passing an AP class?

I'm in AP Biology, which is supposedly, the hardest class in the school, but I'm just a sophomore.

Last semester, I got a C+, but I want to raise it to at least an A-. Unfortunately, the AP exam is coming up and I'm pressured to get a 5 on it. At the least, a 4. I'm so stressed over that one class that I can barely focus on my other classes, or have time for my life.

So I need suggestions on how to:

A) Study more effectively and

B) Raise my grade and keep it up.

I'm taking AP Biology this year as well and I'm getting a B, currently, so maybe I can help you out!

If you want to study more effectively, get a prep book. The best AP prep book for AP Biology is Cliffnotes' prep book. You can search for the Biology one online, and it's fairly popular. You will most definitely get at least a 3 on your AP exam if you use that prep book alone.

If you take notes in class, re-read them the night before class. If you have Biology after lunch, read your notes during your lunch period. Read all the assigned chapters, but don't read them more than once, because that's too time-consuming and inefficient. Reading your notes is much handier. Also, if you need an AP Biology review guide, I have one, and can definitely send it to you if you want! Just send me an email at opehliaswinter@yahoo.com and I'll sent it right away!

To keep your grade up, do all the assigned work and NEVER miss an assignment. To study for your tests, use a REVIEW book and your notes. Don't re-read the chapters. If you really want the stuff imprinted on your brain, type up your handwritten notes.

Go here:

There is some massive review, with quizzes for each section. Keep up you grade by doing some quizzes prior to your tests.

I hope that helps you out a bit!

Go see the teacher and get some individual attention (and "brown-nose" while you're there too!).

Let the teach. know how you're feeling. They usually understand and will help you.

Good luck!
AP Biology is not an easy course, but it is a lot easier than AP Chemistry or AP calculus.

AP is supposed to be equivalent to a college course, but you have to prove that you actually learned the material. That's why they have the AP test. On the test they are going to really grill you on whether you know this stuff or not. The suggestion that you brownnose your teacher is really stupid. How can that help you on the AP test? It is going to be corrected by someone in another state!

This is a big challenge. If you are a good enough academic talent to go to a top school, then you should be able to handle this course. Several people have given good answers - it is not about being smart - it is about having the will power to do the study that is needed, to be determined to succeed, to be willing to sacrifice to get that mark. You can do this if you are determined and spend the time and the effort. Good Luck.
Don't worry about it so much, doing so can actually make you anxious to the point where your performance is worse. Set aside a time each day in which you'll do work for that class-say an hour maybe. This way you will spread your work out, but still have time in the day to focus on other things. Another suggestion is going to the teacher for help or getting a tutor if you really want to raise your grade.
To study more effectively, find a quiet place - that you can make your SPECIAL STUDY PLACE - where you can concentrate on your homework. Good lighting and a comfortable chair can also help. One thing - if you must have music, it should be classical and played at a low volume.

To raise your grade, ask your teacher for extra work - a special report or a personal project. Ask questions in class when you don't understand something. Read ahead in your textbook. Read other material that is relevant to what you are studying in class. Teachers will "go the extra mile" for students who show a willingness to work.
Studying is the only answer. There is no other solution to obtain better grades. Distractions is the only thing that will obstruct your studying habits. A distraction can be anything. A nose in the library, whether it be an attractive person walking by, a person eating and drinking, people at computer terminals etc. It depends on your level of concentration. If these things bother you, i suggest you study somewhere more quiet.

Another distraction is friends and family, they will always distract you. They may want to go out and have fun or you should be doing some chores. Get those things out of the way early, dont procrastinate, do them early.

Study wiith a full stomach, that way your stomach isn't grumbling

Sleep at a reasonable hour so you can study and concentrate and retain more information.
I took that class, and I passed it with a C average. But I didn't try very hard. Maybe you just aren't ready for such a high level class.
ok look i have 4 AP Classes and one is the hardest they all say in history even teachers say it the one i am talking about is A.P. U.S. History now for all the classes the thing to keep your grade up to at least an A is make sure you do allllll your homeowrk and you at least get a C or above on your test and that shoud do it
